Blame it on the Boogie
Julie Rama Winslow, Vanessa Trien, Ian McMillan, and Adam Rothberg get funky in remote locations with a song originally pitched to Stevie Wonder in 1977 by Mick and David Jackson as well as co-writer Elmar Krohn, but recorded and popularized in 1978 by the Jacksons (ie. Michael Jackson and family, (no relation to co-writers Mick and David)).
Don't Let Go
In 1990, Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra, Tom Petty, George Harrison, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys) released a solo album called "Armchair Theatre". The record is full of great Lynne production stylings and Beatle-y songs, as with so much of his other work. This recording is my first stab at emulating Jeff's sound. I played the record for Doug Plavin on a recent road trip, and he fell head over heals for it. We (along with Rob Lee who added some great saxophone playing) put this song together over the past couple of months. It was written by Jesse Stone, and the original recording was by Roy Hamilton in 1958 (I think). Lynne covered it on "Armchair Theatre". I might keep working on the mix, but it was time to release it back into the wild.
Sara Smile, cover by Adam Rothberg
This song was the first hit for Daryl Hall and John Oates, aka Hall and Oates. I've always loved it. I played and sang everything but drums in this video. My good friend and marvelous drummer Doug Plavin is playing drums. I hope you enjoy this homage to the boys of blue-eyed soul.
